Nirvana Farmhouse, Khadavli
Built from CSEB, enveloped around a courtyard, the traditional plan transforms into a modern weekend home located on the banks of river Ulhas.
The Adobe House, Saguna Baug, Neral
Inspired from the traditional building styles of the region, the cottage is built with 18 inch thick sun dried adobes. The elements of the cottage such as the frames and shutters have been sourced from a radius of 10kms. The house takes you through a series of transition spaces leading one to the edge of a man-made pond.
Layer by layer, it reveals itself. It’s almost like the stone from huge boulders broken into a rubble, shaped into blocks, rises back together in space to reveal a new identity and purpose.
The Kaule Prototype, Nepal
A collaboration with Alleya and Associates, Kolkata and Thumbimpressions Collaborative, Ahmedabad to train the local residents of the villages Kaule and Bhangeri in the art of bamboo treatment and construction to create earthquake resistant homes
Indras Awas Yojana, Gujarat
A project in collaboration with Hunnarshala, PYHT and other practices which documents rural houses that were built traditionally, under the IAY scheme and the influences that were the driving force behind the change in the rural built fabric of the state of Gujarat. After which design with construction handbooks were made for beneficiaries.
Bamboo Toilet, SNGP, Borivali
The use of bamboo to form the structure for the walls and roof, with panels of wattle and daub as the surfaces from their toilet at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai. In collaboration with YIF and PYHT, the toilets were built for women residents' chinchpada.
COB House, Kamshet
The Ukson lake, which creates an ideal setting for this COB house, has its large verandahs leading to the water. The materials for the walls comes from the site itself and built by locals that were trained in the technique.
In the urban context, designing interior spaces with recycled timber and up-cycled paper tubes for the Studio of CAMP in Mumbai. The bamboo roof was designed over a terrace to extend the studio space.
Artisan Training, Saipu, Nepal
A collaboration with Thumbimpressions Collaborative, Ahmedabad to train the local residents of Saipu in the art of bamboo treatment and construction to create earthquake resistant homes using locally available natural materials.
